She has worked across the spectrum of science communication — from newsrooms and journals to hospital systems and universities — building a career at the intersection of accuracy, clarity, and impact.
Jennifer began her career in the lab, conducting cancer research at the University of Notre Dame and studying antiviral drugs in a San Francisco biotech startup before completing the renowned Science Communication program at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Her editorial path has spanned roles as founding Science Editor at Business Insider, Senior Editor at Tech Insider, and Editor-in-Chief at WonderHowTo, where she launched new editorial brands and directed cross-platform content strategy. Since 2020, Jennifer has focused on healthcare and academic clients, managing editorial teams creating hundreds of condition, treatment, and service-line pages for hospital systems, and writing features for Engineering and obituaries for Stanford Medicine.
Through WelshLee Creative, Jennifer combines her editorial expertise with her talent for building and leading teams. She partners with clients to develop content processes and deliver projects at scale — always keeping the human side of science and medicine at the center.

🚫 What WelshLee Creative Stands Against
We stand against confusion and chaos.
Endless email threads, unclear feedback, and untracked changes waste everyone’s time. We believe in calm, organized processes.
We stand against cheap, rushed, or careless content.
We don’t cut corners, inflate hours, or sacrifice accuracy for speed. We’d rather do it right than do it twice. Our project-based pricing and approach means you get exactly what you pay for.
We stand against exploiting creative labor.
We don’t believe in underpaying or overworking talented people. Fair pay builds trust, loyalty, and better results.
We stand against buzzwords and empty trends.
We use plain language that connects — not jargon that alienates.
We stand against panic edits and micromanagement.
We know that good content takes planning and trust, not last-minute chaos.
We stand against burnout and fear-based work.
We’re building a sustainable creative practice — one that values people as much as output.
